Prawns are believed to be a good source of protein, minerals and vitamins, notably Vitamin B12. They feature the mineral iodine, reported to be essential for the function of the thyroid gland and the mineral calcium, needed for strong bones. Prawns feature selenium, useful for sustaining a healthy heart and is reported to help combat prostate and breast cancers. It has been recommended to eat prawns in moderation as it contains high amounts of cholesterol.
